Hello folks
Well, it’s been just over 2 weeks now since my operation.
• The operation went fine, and the surgeon was happy
• For the first few days, I wasn’t feeling great, but I was getting better each day, so not to worry
• I had a completely liquid diet for the first 10 days—that went okay, but I could only drink little tiny sips very slowly
• Now I’m onto mush—baby food consistency without any lumps. This is a very nice phase, because I can now have real flavours again. I have even invented some new lines of baby food—Mexican baby food, and Baby Guacamole!!
• I can eat ½ cup of food at a time, but usually less. I eat 3 times a day. So it’s not much food, but I never feel hungry. I have tiny bites and eat slowly.
• I’ve officially lost 10 kgs (22 pounds). I have really lost a bit more than that, but it’s not official. I consider official when the dietician or the surgeon weigh me. I have lost more since then, but I know how to “jiggle” our home scales by leaning left or right. So I will only report about the official ones!!
• I will stay on the Mush phase for a while. I see the surgeon again on the 19th of April, and I guess we will discuss things further.
• I went back to work—actually I never really stopped, but it was a slow time at the Uni. I had 2 complete days off when I was actually in the hospital, but I’ve been working since I got home. The “lull” is now over at the Uni, and it is back in full swing with facilitating and marking. I also have started back doing the liaison work again.
• I don’t think I’m back to 100% yet, but maybe 85%. I feel great, but I seem to still get tired and need a bit of a rest
So, there you go…I did it, and I am very happy. It seemed to be a lot leading up to the operation, but now it’s just looking forward in a positive way every day. I am very happy!!
My love
Debbie
I haven't checked on you for a few days. Glad you made this post. Also, glad you are going well and getting your strength back. Check back later!
ReplyDeleteHi, Debbie
ReplyDeleteI hope your check-up was all about good news. It sounds like the whole process is very thorough - on your part as well as the specialists'.
Such a lifestyle change for you - eating-style - and now it will affect what you feel like doing physically. Isn't it lucky that wine is liquid?
You are full of surprises, as I'd never thought you were unhappy the way you were, nor unwell. You are also always so cheery, I wonder where it comes from. So I'm thinking, look out Toowoomba. Debbie Blencowe is firing ALL cannons now!
And more than anything I['m so glad you obviously have no regrets about what it's taken to do this thing .. and moreso, that it's made you so happy. I'll have to say, happier, as you're just about always bubbling. xx
